According to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies responded at 4:15 p.m. Monday (Sept. 13, 2021) to a report of a hit-and-run traffic crash on IL Route 25 at the intersection of Gilbert Street.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that a 2020 Harley Davidson three-wheel motorcycle was traveling north on Route 25 and stopped at a red light at the intersection of Gilbert Street.
A red or maroon-color SUV was also traveling north on IL Route 25 and approached the motorcycle from behind at a high rate of speed. The SUV struck the motorcycle and fled the scene north on Route 25.
The rider of the motorcycle was identified as a 72-year-old man from St. Charles.
The accident investigation continues, and is being conducted by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
The SUV that struck the motorcyclist is believed to be a SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee. It likely has front driver’s-side damage. Those who have information with regard to this SUV or the accident are asked to call Detective Minuth at 630-208-2034.
