Kane County Motorcycle Accident
There was a collision involving a motorcycle and SUV early this morning (Tuesday, April 25, 2017) in Aurora.
According to the City of Aurora, the motorcycle and an SUV collided near Ogden Avenue and South Commons Drive at approximately 5:40 a.m.
An excerpt regarding the crash, as seen in the Daily Herald article of April 25, 2017, titled “Yorkville man in critical condition after Aurora crash“:
Police said the woman, Melissa Centazzo, 57, of the 1500 block of Tara Bella Parkway, was driving east on Ogden Avenue in a 2016 Honda CRV about 5:40 a.m. when she tried to turn north on Commons and collided with a westbound motorcycle that apparently didn’t have operating headlights. The force of the crash caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from the bike and the SUV to flip on its roof.
The motorcyclist, identified as a 55-year-old Yorkville man, was critically injured and taken to an Aurora hospital for treatment of his accident injuries. He was then flown to another hospital. At the time of the accident, he was not wearing a motorcycle helmet.
Melissa Centazzo declined medical treatment. Another excerpt from the Daily Herald article mentioned above:
Centazzo was cited for failure to yield while turning left. There were no signs of alcohol or drug use at the scene, police said.
As seen in a crash scene photo, the SUV rolled over onto its roof during the course of the accident.
