Fatal Vehicle Accident In Kane County

There was a Kane County vehicle accident Saturday (April 5, 2014) in which a man died following a collision with a pickup truck.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), a vehicle driving along the Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) near Gilberts began to “weave” out of control at approximately 9:37 a.m., before it crashed into a pickup truck that was parked in a construction zone near Tyrrell Road.

The driver was identified as Guy Cooper, 66, of St. Charles.  After being administered CPR by two people who stopped to help him – as well as by responding ISP trooper, he was taken to to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.  He was pronounced dead at 10:25 a.m.

One media source, the Daily Herald article of April 5, 2014, titled “St. Charles man dies after apparent heart attack on I-90 near Gilberts,” says that Cooper apparently suffered a heart attack prior to the crash.  An autopsy by the Kane County Coroner is pending.

This crash is under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
