Fatal Pedestrian Accident In Elgin

There was a fatal pedestrian accident early this morning (December 9, 2015) in Elgin.

According to Elgin Police, the preliminary investigation indicates the accident happened at approximately 5:25 a.m.  At that time, a Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by a 54-year-old Elgin resident, struck a 46-year-old man who was walking in the roadway.  The accident happened on southbound Route 31, near Route 20.  At the time of the accident, the pedestrian may have been attempting to cross the street.

The 46-year-old pedestrian, a St. Charles resident, was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation by the Elgin Police Department’s Traffic Unit.  Those having information concerning the crash are asked to call (847) 289-2661.
