Kane County Vehicle Accident

There was an accident Monday (November 10, 2014) in Aurora, Illinois in which a 7-year-old girl was hit by a car, and her injuries left her in critical condition.

According to Aurora Police, the accident happened at approximately 3:05 p.m., when the girl, who was walking toward her house with her aunt, unexpectedly ran into the street and was struck by a car in the 1000 block of Plum Street.

The girl was initially taken to an Aurora hospital, and then airlifted to another hospital for treatment of head injuries.

The driver of the Honda Civic that struck the girl, Alfredo Rodriguez-Vega, 18, of the 2300 block of Buttercup Court, Aurora, was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Police said there were no signs of alcohol, drugs, or that Rodriguez-Vega was on his phone when the crash occurred.
