There was a fatal train accident early this morning (April 26, 2014) in Elgin, Illinois.

According to Elgin Police, a person was riding a bicycle across the freight railroad tracks at the National Street Train Station, when the person is believed to have fallen off the bicycle and was fatally struck by the train.  Emergency responders were called to the accident scene at 12:35 a.m.

The Kane County Coroner has not released any further information concerning the person’s identity.

The accident remains under investigation.
