Fatal Collision In Plato Township

Kane County Fatal Vehicle Collision

There was a fatal vehicle collision Wednesday (September 23, 2015) in Kane County.  The accident happened in Plato Township.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened as a woman was driving an SUV eastbound on Plank Road near Switzer Road.  For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway, then came back on the road, at which point it collided with a westbound semi truck.

The SUV caught fire after the collision.  The driver of the SUV, identified as Faith Huml, 67, of Rochelle, was declared dead at the accident scene.

The semi’s driver, Paul Holcomb, 58, of Rockford, was taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin for treatment of his accident injuries, which were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

The accident remains under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
