Kane County Fatal Bicycle Collision
There was a fatal bicycle accident Saturday (September 5, 2015) in Aurora.
According to Aurora Police, the accident happened shortly before 11:00 a.m., on Densmore Road where it crosses the Virgil Gillman Trail.
A woman that was participating in a group bicycle ride was crossing Densmore, heading westbound, when she collided with a car that was heading southbound on Densmore.
The Aurora Police identified the woman as Lonnie Wilkinson, 66, of Des Plaines.
She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her accident injuries. She died after being taken to the hospital.
At the time of the accident, she was wearing a bicycle helmet.
The car was driven by a man from Sugar Grove.
This fatal bicycle accident continues to be under investigation by the Aurora Police Department.
