Fatal Aurora Motorcycle Collision In Front Of Northgate Shopping Center

Kane County Fatal Motorcycle Accident

There was a fatal Aurora motorcycle collision on Friday (July 24, 2020) night. This fatal Aurora motorcycle collision involved a motorcycle and Jeep Cherokee SUV.

First responders began to go to the accident scene after receiving a call at 11:30 p.m. concerning a serious traffic accident.

The accident is discussed in a variety of media sources, including the July 28, 2020 Kane County Connects article titled “Aurora Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle-Vs.-Jeep Crash On City’s West Side.” An excerpt:

Once officers could disperse the crowds, it was determined that a 2005 Jeep Cherokee and a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle had collided in the intersection in front of the Northgate Shopping Center.

The force of the accident was so great, that it caused the Jeep Cherokee to roll over onto the roof of the vehicle.

Responding officers and members of the Aurora Fire Department worked to extricate the victims from inside the Jeep Cherokee and perform lifesaving measures. Three victims were subsequently transported to local hospitals due to their injuries.

Unfortunately, the motorcycle rider, a 31-year-old Aurora man did not survive the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Officers were able to determine that the Jeep Cherokee was travelling north bound on Lake Street and turned left in front of the motorcycle, which was travelling south bound on Lake Street. Lake Street remained closed for several hours, while traffic investigators reconstructed the accident.

This fatal Aurora motorcycle collision continues to be investigated. Those with information concerning the accident are asked to contact the Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division at 630-256-5330. Also, people can call Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000 to report information anonymously.
