A fatal Algonquin pedestrian accident occurred Friday (July 12, 2019) evening. This fatal Algonquin pedestrian accident happened as a woman was attempting to cross County Line Road at Stonegate Road. She was walking in the crosswalk at the time of the accident.

A woman was crossing County Line Road in the crosswalk at Stonegate Road at about 7:18 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle driving west on County Line Road, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner identified the woman as Vivian Nockels, 86, of Algonquin.

Nockels was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin in critical condition and was then flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she later died, police said.

The driver of the car, identified as a 23-year-old man from Gilberts, was not injured during the collision. He was ticketed for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
