An Aurora fatal motorcycle crash occurred Saturday (June 1, 2019) evening. The motorcyclist in this Aurora fatal motorcycle crash died after being taken to a local hospital.
This Aurora fatal motorcycle crash is summarized in a variety of media sources, including the June 4, 2019 Kane County Connects post titled “Man Killed When Motorcycle Crashes Into Truck on Illinois Avenue in Aurora.” An excerpt concerning the crash and the motorcyclist, who was identified as John Schwickert, 54, of Westmont:
Aurora police responded at 7:25 p.m. Saturday to the area of Illinois Avenue and View Street on Aurora’s West Side for a report of a serious crash.
Witnesses who spoke with the police on scene indicated that Schwickert was riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed east on Illinois Avenue and ran the stop sign at Illinois Avenue and View Street, striking a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck from behind.
At the time of this Kane County motorcycle crash Schwickert was riding a 2017 Harley Davidson Road Glide.
Schwickert was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, but he later died.
Another excerpt from the post with regard to possible motorcyclist intoxication:
Police do not immediately suspect intoxication as a contributing factor in the crash.
An occupant in the pickup truck was also injured during the accident, but that person was treated for injuries at the accident scene. Those injuries were considered to be minor injuries, although the type of these injuries does not appear to be publicly disclosed. Among the most common types of accident injuries resulting from a vehicle being “rear-ended” is “whiplash.”
Media sources do not appear to indicate how many vehicle occupants were in the pickup truck at the time of the collision.
