Kane County Bicycle Accident Injures Bicyclist
There was a Aurora bicycle accident Saturday (April 28, 2018) afternoon. The accident involved a collision between a car and a bicyclist. The bicyclist was injured during the collision, after which the driver of the car left the accident scene (i.e. a “hit & run.”)
An excerpt regarding the Aurora bicycle accident, from the May 4, 2018 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “Aurora hit-and-run driver stops to pick up license plate after hitting cyclist”:
About 1:30 p.m., a 31-year-old Yorkville man was riding his bicycle south on Orchard Road when he was hit by a car headed west on Illinois Avenue, according to a statement from Aurora police. The man was launched onto the top of the car and rolled off.
The driver of the car got out after the crash to pick up her car’s license plate, which had been knocked off in the crash, police said. She then got back into her car and drove away north on Orchard.
The bicyclist was taken to an Aurora hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, which reportedly included a serious head injury.
According to the bicyclist and a witness to the accident, the bicyclist “had the green light” at the time of the collision.
Those with information concerning the accident and/or the identity of the driver are asked to call Aurora Police at (630) 256-5330 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
The driver is described as a thin white woman, 5’7″, being between 20-25 years old. The car she was driving was a maroon sedan.
