Fatal Elgin Car-Semi Truck Collision At Randall Road And Hopps Road

Fatal Kane County Car-Semi Truck Collision 

There was a fatal Elgin car-semi truck collision on Sunday (July 29, 2018) afternoon.  The accident happened at the intersection of Randall Road and Hopps Road.  Elgin police and fire department units went to the accident scene starting at 2:20 p.m.

The woman killed in the crash was identified as Consuelo Pina, 18, of Elgin.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a semi-truck driven by a 57-year-old Wheeling resident was traveling north on Randall Road when a southbound vehicle driven by Pina turned east onto Hopps Road from Randall Road and was struck by the truck.

Pina, the sole occupant, was pronounced deceased from injuries sustained in the crash. Pina’s identity has been withheld pending notification to relatives, police said.

A subsequent autopsy revealed that Pina died from multiple injuries resulting from the accident.

On Thursday (July 5, 2018) afternoon there was a fatal motorcycle crash in Aurora.  According to Aurora Police the crash involved a motorcycle loss of control.

Aurora Police say that the bike hit a tree near the intersection of Eola Road and McCoy Road just before 2:00 p.m.  At the time of the crash the motorcyclist was riding south on Eola Road.

Jonathan J. Benavides, 30, was driving a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle at a high speed about 1:20 p.m., heading south on Eola Road from McCoy Drive, when he lost control while changing lanes, according to Aurora police. The motorcycle hit a curb and Benavides was thrown from the bike and hit a tree.
