There was a pedestrian accident Wednesday (May 23, 2018) morning in Batavia.  The accident involved a SUV hitting a teenager who was attempting to cross the street at the time of the accident.

An excerpt concerning the pedestrian accident, from the Chicago Sun-Times article of May 23, 2018 titled “Boy, 15, hit by car while crossing street in Batavia“:

The boy was crossing the street at 7:16 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Wilson Street in Batavia when he was hit by a 2011 Nissan Rogue that was eastbound on Wilson, according to a statement from Batavia police.

The boy was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva for treatment of his accident injuries.  Those injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature, according to Batavia Police.

This Kane County pedestrian accident remains under investigation.  No citation or charges have (yet) been filed.

Kane County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to the accident scene at 12:33 p.m.  The accident occurred at the intersection of Main Street and South Lorang Road.

The sheriff’s office said initial investigation indicated that a 61 year-old Elgin man, driving a Freightliner semi-tractor was traveling west on Main St. and began to turn south onto South Lorang Rd.

Fifty-eight-year-old James Bailey of Aurora was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle west on Main St. and struck the passenger side of the semi.

Bailey was flown to a hospital; his accident injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

At the time of the accident, he was not wearing a motorcycle helmet.

The accident investigation continues.

There was a fatal Kane County “head-on collision” Sunday (May 6, 2018) on Illinois Route 47, south of Beith Road, in unincorporated Campton Township.  The crash happened after one car crossed the center line for a currently unknown reason.

The initial investigation indicates that a Honda Civic driven by Linda Clark, 54, of Montgomery was traveling south on Route 47 and for an unknown reason crossed the center line and struck a northbound Toyota Highlander driven by Kristin Chomenko, 29, of Hampshire.

Clark was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kristin Chomenko and her 1-year-old son, who was a passenger in the SUV, were taken to the hospital for treatment of their accident injuries.  Those injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

The accident investigation is continuing and is being conducted by the Kane County Sheriff Office’s Accident Reconstruction Team.

There was a Aurora bicycle accident Saturday (April 28, 2018) afternoon.  The accident involved a collision between a car and a bicyclist.  The bicyclist was injured during the collision, after which the driver of the car left the accident scene (i.e. a “hit & run.”)

About 1:30 p.m., a 31-year-old Yorkville man was riding his bicycle south on Orchard Road when he was hit by a car headed west on Illinois Avenue, according to a statement from Aurora police. The man was launched onto the top of the car and rolled off.

The driver of the car got out after the crash to pick up her car’s license plate, which had been knocked off in the crash, police said. She then got back into her car and drove away north on Orchard.

The bicyclist was taken to an Aurora hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, which reportedly included a serious head injury.

According to the bicyclist and a witness to the accident, the bicyclist “had the green light” at the time of the collision.

The driver is described as a thin white woman, 5’7″, being between 20-25 years old.  The car she was driving was a maroon sedan.
