Kane County Motorcycle Crash

There was a motorcycle accident Sunday evening (March 19, 2017) on Route 64 near Lily Lake.

This motorcycle accident – which involved an apparent loss of motorcycle control for an unspecified reason – is discussed in the Daily Herald article of March 19 titled “Motorcyclist injured in crash into sign near Lily Lake.”  An excerpt, quoting Kane County sheriff’s Lt. Pat Gengler:

The motorcycle was traveling west on Route 64 about 5:15 p.m. when it left the road for an unknown reason and hit the sign, he said. The crash occurred west of Woolery Road.

The motorcyclist, identified only as a man in his 50s, was taken to Delnor Hospital for treatment of accident injuries, which were considered to be potentially life-threatening in nature.

Car Crashes Into A Column At Batavia Bank Branch

A car crashed into the PNC Bank branch in Batavia on Thursday afternoon, March 16, 2017.

According to the Batavia Fire Department, the crash happened at approximately 5:30 p.m.  The branch is located at 825 N. Randall Road.

The crash involved a car colliding with an outside column to the entrance.

The driver, identified only as a 71-year-old woman, had to be extricated from the car.  She was then taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva for treatment of her accident injuries, which were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

At this time the cause of the crash does not appear to be publicly disclosed.

On November 5, 2016, there was a fatal two-vehicle crash in rural Kane County.  Two teenagers – Arthur Stenger, 16, of Montgomery, and Elijah Vajgert, 16, of Maple Park – died in the crash.  The accident – in which Stenger was the driver – is summarized in the November 6, 2016 post titled “Fatal Car Accident In Unincorporated Kane County.”

Recently, there has been a wrongful death lawsuit filed in Kane County Circuit Court with regard to the crash.  That wrongful death lawsuit is summarized in the Daily Herald article of March 10, 2017, titled “Family of teen killed in crash sues family of classmate behind wheel.”

An excerpt from that article concerning the collision between the pickup truck the teenagers were in and a semi truck:

“The force and power of the collision caused the pickup truck to be propelled off the roadway and to be engulfed in fire and flames,” read part of the lawsuit. “The next of kin of Elijah Vajgert sustained pecuniary injuries as a direct and proximate result of his death, including loss of society, grief, sorrow and mental suffering.”

The lawsuit argues Arthur Stenger, of Montgomery, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to yield to traffic, in this case the semitrailer. Stenger and Vajgert were best friends who met in seventh grade.

Fatal Aurora Pedestrian Accident On North Lake Street

There was a fatal pedestrian accident Monday night (March 6, 2017) in Aurora.  The accident involved a man being fatally struck by a truck.

The accident happened in the 800 block of North Lake Street (also known as Route 31) at approximately 9:13 p.m.  At that time, a semi truck heading northbound on Lake Street struck the pedestrian.

An excerpt concerning the cause of the crash, as seen in the Batavia Patch article of March 7, 2017, titled “Update:  Fatal Crash in Aurora, Alcohol May Have Been a Factor:  Police“:

Aurora police reported that the truck was traveling north on Lake Street at 9:13 p.m. when the pedestrian “apparently fell off the sidewalk into the path of the truck and was hit.” Ferrelli said in an email that “alcohol may be involved on the part of the pedestrian.”

The pedestrian who was fatally struck was later identified as Ralph E. Clark, 36, of Aurora.
