Rollover Accident On I-88 Near Kanesville Injures Man And Woman

Kane County Car Rollover Accident 

There was a car rollover accident Thursday morning (November 24, 2016) on I-88 near Kanesville.

Details on the accident appear limited at this time.  There does not appear to be a publicly disclosed cause for the accident at this time.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) the accident happened on I-88, near milepost 108, at approximately 11:25 a.m.  At that time, a Honda Pilot rolled over.

The male driver was flown to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for treatment of his accident injuries.  The female passenger was taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora for treatment of her accident injuries, which were considered to be non-life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation.

There was a fatal car crash early Sunday morning (November 13, 2016) in South Elgin.  The single-vehicle crash led to the deaths of two people.

Officials say that the single-vehicle crash happened at approximately 5:45 a.m., in the area of Route 31 (LaFox Street) and Scott Avenue.  This crash is being attributed to a loss of vehicle control, after which the vehicle left the roadway and hit two trees.  As seen in the November 15, 2016 Kane County Chronicle article titled “2 dead, 1 injured in South Elgin crash,” the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, and all three vehicle occupants were ejected during the accident.

Two male vehicle occupants were declared dead at the accident scene; one male occupant was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital (in Elgin) for treatment of his accident injuries.

There was a chain-reaction crash in Kane County on Thursday morning (November 10, 2016) on Route 20 west of Elgin.

The initial investigation indicates a 2013 Kia Sorrento driven by Monica Villanueva, 24, of Elgin, was eastbound about 7 a.m. on Route 20 when it crashed into the rear of a 2014 Mercedes C300 that was stopped at Coombs Road, Kane County Sheriff’s Lt. Pat Gengler said.

This initial crash led to two other vehicles being “rear-ended.”

As a result of the collision, Villanueva was seriously hurt and was flown to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. The driver of the Mercedes suffered injuries considered to be non-life-threatening in nature; she was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin for treatment of her injuries.

Fatal Car Accident In Unincorporated Kane County

There was a fatal car accident Saturday (November 5, 2016) in which two teenage boys were killed.  The crash happened west of Route 47 in Virgil Township, which is in rural Kane County.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at approximately 5:00 p.m., at the intersection of Meredith Road and Beith Road.

The accident led to the deaths of Arthur Stenger, 16, of Montgomery, and Elijah Vajgert, 16, of Maple Park.

An excerpt from the November 6, 2016 The Beacon-News article titled “2 Kaneland High School students killed in crash,” quoting Kane County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Lt. Pat Gengler:

According to the preliminary investigation, Stenger was driving a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck westbound on Beith Road and Vajert was a passenger.

Stenger stopped at the stop sign and for an unknown reason pulled into the intersection and collided into a semi-truck hauling corn. The truck was headed southbound on Meredith Road and did not have to stop, Gengler said.

Both Stenger and Vajgert were pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The truck driver was treated for his injuries at the accident scene.

During the collision, both the pickup truck and semi truck rolled onto their sides.

This fatal Kane County accident remains under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
