Fatal Two-Car Collision In Kane County

There was a fatal two-car collision Monday evening (July 25, 2016) in North Aurora.  A 6-year old boy died following the accident, which involved both vehicles rolling over.

According to Illinois State Police (ISP) the accident happened on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) at approximately 6:55 p.m.  At that time, a westbound Dodge Durango and a Nissan Murano collided near milepost 115.  It is unknown at this time as to what factors caused the collision.  Both vehicles rolled over following the collision.

At least three people in the Dodge Durango, including a 32-year-old woman from Des Moines and two boys were injured and taken to hospitals.  One boy, a 6-year-old, was flown to Lutheran General Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, where he later died.

It is unknown as to whether the driver of the Murano was injured during the accident.

This accident remains under investigation.

Fatal Truck-Motorcycle Collision In Kane County

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Friday afternoon (July 8, 2016) near Elgin.  The accident happened on Route 25 near Hammond Avenue, as pictured below:

According to the results of a preliminary crash investigation, the accident happened as a motorcyclist on a Suzuki motorcycle was traveling northbound on Route 25 and a flatbed truck, a Ford L9000 flatbed, was traveling southbound.  The truck-motorcycle collision happened as the truck attempted to turn east (i.e. a left-hand turn) into a parking lot of an industrial park near Hammond Avenue.   The Kane County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the crash at approximately 2:45 p.m.

The motorcyclist, identified as Jordan Hale, 25, of St. Charles, was taken to Presence Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin, where he was pronounced dead.  At the time of the collision, he was wearing a motorcycle helmet.

The truck driver, identified as a 50-year-old man from South Elgin, was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin for treatment of accident injuries which were considered to be “minor” in nature.

No charges or tickets have been issued. The crash remains under investigation by Kane County sheriff’s detectives and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.

There was a fatal truck-car accident on Route 64 in Kane County on Thursday, July 7, 2016.  The accident happened between St. Charles and Campton Hills.

An excerpt, citing information from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, from the Chicago Tribune article of July 7, 2016, titled “Woman dies after crash pushes SUV into path of oncoming truck“:

Initial investigation showed that a Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by White, was traveling east on Route 64 and was waiting to turn north onto Cibis Road. A Toyota Highlander, driven by Willenborg, was stopped behind the Mitsubishi. A Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Mark Vogtman, 36, of Sugar Grove struck the rear-end of the Toyota, according to the release.

The Toyota then went into the westbound lane of Route 64 and was struck by a Freightliner semi tractor which was traveling west on Route 64, the release stated, noting that Vogtman was not injured.

Janice Willenborg, 74, of St. Charles, was pronounced dead after being taken to Delnor Hospital. Robert Duff, 55, of Rockdale (the semi truck driver) and Chloe White, 20, of Elgin, were also taken to Delnor Hospital with minor injuries.  Mark Vogtman was not injured in the crash.

Motorcycle Passenger Dies Following Crash In Elgin

Motorcycle Crash At Highland Woods Boulevard And Route 20

A woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle died following a crash Saturday (July 2, 2016) in Elgin.  The accident happened on Route 20.  Elgin Police first began going to the accident scene at 11:44 a.m.

An excerpt from the July 2, 2016 Daily Herald article titled “Woman, 54, dies in motorcycle crash on Route 20 in Elgin“:

The victim was riding on the back of the 2006 Harley Davidson late Saturday morning when its driver, a 56-year-old man, swerved to avoid a car attempting a turn from Highland Woods Boulevard onto Route 20. As the motorcyclist attempted to avoid the vehicle, he lost control, according to Elgin police.

At the time of the accident, the motorcycle was heading westbound on Route 20.  The car (a 2006 Honda Accord) was being driven by an 18-year-old woman from Addison.  She was attempting to turn onto eastbound Route 20.  It appears as if there is a stop sign on Highland Woods Boulevard at Route 20.

The motorcyclist and passenger were taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital for treatment of their accident injuries.  Whereas the man had injuries considered to be non-life-threatening in nature, the woman was later pronounced dead.

The area around the accident scene was closed for several hours as a crash reconstruction was performed.
