Fatal Two-Car Collision Near North Aurora

Fatal Kane County “Head-On Collision” 

There was a fatal two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning (March 28, 2016) near North Aurora.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 10:15 a.m., as a Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling northbound on Route 31 near Mooseheart Road crossed into the southbound lanes for a currently undisclosed reason.  In doing so, a “head-on collision” occurred between the Trailblazer and a Ford pickup traveling southbound.

The driver of the Trailblazer was declared dead at the accident scene after being extricated from the vehicle.  He was identified as Jose Quitl, 21, of Aurora.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Brandon Haller, 24, of Maple Park.  He was taken to Delnor Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, which were considered non-life-threatening in nature.

Sheriff’s detectives and investigators from the county’s Accident Reconstruction Team are still investigating the crash. They have not determined if drugs, alcohol, texting or excessive speed were involved, officials said.

Pedestrian Hit By Vehicle In Geneva

There was a pedestrian accident Tuesday morning (March 29, 2016) in Geneva.  The accident involved a car striking an 85-year-old woman.

According to the Geneva Police Department, the accident happened at 7:22 a.m. in the 2500 block of Miller Road, near the entrance to the Shops of Randall Square.

According to the release, a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling east on Miller Road, and the 26-year-old driver, a Geneva man, didn’t see the pedestrian in the road, subsequently striking her with the car.

The injured woman was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva for treatment of her accident injuries, and then airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

The accident remains under investigation.

Fatal Limousine Accident

There was a fatal car rollover accident Friday morning (March 25, 2016) on eastbound Interstate 90 near Elgin.  The accident involved a limousine with six passengers and a driver.

Police said the driver of the limousine was blinded by the sun shortly after 7 a.m. near Route 25. The driver was unable to see the traffic lane pattern and crashed into the end of the jay wall, causing the limousine to land on its roof with two people trapped inside.

Two of the passengers in the limousine suffered life-threatening injuries during the crash.  They were taken to Sherman Hospital for treatment of their accident injuries. One of those passengers later died.

The remaining four passengers, as well as the driver, were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their accident injuries, which were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

The accident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.

Fatal Pickup Truck Accident In Aurora

Fatal Collision In Kane County

There was a fatal collision in which a pickup truck struck and tree, and then a house, in Aurora.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Aurora Police Department, the accident happened shortly after midnight Monday night (crash on March 21, 2016) as a teenager was driving southbound in the 300 block of Woodlawn Avenue.

At that time, the pickup truck left the roadway and then struck a tree.  As it did so, the pickup truck flipped and the driver was ejected.  The pickup truck struck then struck a house.

After being ejected, the driver had the pickup truck land on top of him.

The driver was identified as Bryan J. Westcott Jr., 18.  He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

No signs of drugs or alcohol were present at the scene, and police are trying to determine the cause of the accident in an ongoing investigation. There was an accident involving a car Saturday afternoon (March 12, 2016) in St. Charles.

According to the St. Charles Police Department, the accident happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.  At that time, a car with a 16-year-old driver and two teenage passengers was driving.  After the car stopped, a 16-year-old boy jumped on the trunk, and apparently fell off the trunk, or jumped, and hit his head on the pavement.  The accident happened in the 4100 block of Royal Fox Drive.

The boy was taken to Delnor Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, which were not specified, and then transferred to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Man Dies Following Aurora Pedestrian Accident

There was a fatal pedestrian accident Friday evening (March 11, 2016) in Aurora.

According to Aurora Police, a preliminary investigation indicates that  the accident happened at the intersection of Farnsworth Avenue and Marshall Boulevard at approximately 6:15 p.m.  At that time, a man who was attempting to walk across Farnsworth was struck by a pickup truck.

The man, identified as George Edwards, 67, of Aurora, was taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center by paramedics.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 8:28 p.m.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Guadalupe Luna, 75, of Aurora.
