Two Kane County Crashes With Injuries

There were two separate vehicle accidents within 24 hours of each other near Beith Road and Route 47.

The first crash on Friday afternoon (November 27, 2015) crash involved a van traveling eastbound on Beith Road.  According to authorities, the van failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a southbound Chevrolet Trailblazer.  Both drivers were taken to Delnor Hospital for treatment of their accident injuries, with the driver of the van suffering crash injuries that were considered to be potentially life-threatening in nature.

The second crash happened on early Saturday morning (November 28) and involved a collision between a Lincoln Town Car and semi truck.  At the time of this collision, the semi truck was said to be blocking Beith Road as it was backing into a driveway.  In this collision, the driver of the of the Town Car was flown to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for treatment of accident injuries that were considered to be potentially life-threatening in nature.  The driver of the semi truck was not hurt.

Both accidents remain under investigation by various parties, including the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team continue to investigate the causes of both crashes.

SUV Crashes Into Garage In Batavia

Driver Charged With DUI After Kane County Crash

There was a car crash in Batavia early Tuesday morning (November 24, 2015) after which the driver was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to Batavia Police, the accident happened at approximately 1:30 a.m., as a woman driving a SUV southbound on Prairie ran through a stop sign at a “T-intersection” and continued traveling straight, instead of turning.  In doing so, the SUV hit a house in the 300 block of Pine Street.  At that point, the SUV went “airborne,” striking two vehicles parked in the driveway, and pushing them into the garage.  The SUV landed on its roof atop one of the vehicles.

The driver of the SUV had to be extricated from her vehicle.  She was then taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva for treatment of her accident injuries, which were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

The driver was identified as Mary Gosselin, 21, of Batavia.  According to Batavia Police, in addition to the DUI charge she was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and disobeying a stop sign.

None of the residents in the house were injured during the crash.

There was a fatal accident involving a car at Lake Patterson (the Oakhurst Forest Preserve) in the morning of Thursday, November 12, 2015.

The car, carrying two men, had been driven near the lake as the men wished to watch the waves.  The accident involved the car rolling into the lake.  One of the two men in the car was able to escape from the vehicle; the other man was unable to escape from the submerged vehicle.

Forest preserve district officials said the two thought the car was in park when it rolled into the water. The driver was able to exit the car before it became submerged but the passenger was not able to escape. The driver flagged down a motorist who then called 911.

The man who was trapped in the car was pronounced dead after being taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora; the other man was also taken to Rush-Copley for treatment of his injuries.

This fatal incident remains under investigation.

Car Drives Into Aurora Pond

A car drove into a retention pond on Tuesday afternoon (November 4, 2015) in Aurora, and the driver of the car was found dead at the scene.

According to the Aurora Police Department, the pond was located near Tara Belle Parkway and Normantown Road.  The accident happened at approximately 4:35 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Kent Farris, 56, of Aurora, was found dead inside his vehicle.

According to Ferrelli, police believe Farris was involved in a hit-and-run, chain-reaction crash that occurred about 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Montgomery Road and Terra Belle Parkway, minutes before Farris’ car was seen going into the pond.

An investigation is ongoing.
