Two Injured In Kane County Car Crash
There was an early-morning car crash this morning (June 17, 2015) in Aurora in which a SUV drove into a retention pond.
According to Aurora Police, the accident happened at approximately 4:56 a.m., and began when a SUV, driven by a 31-year-old woman from Aurora, was driving out of a parking lot in the 1700 block of North Edgelawn Drive. At that point, she collided with a car driven by a 35-year-old man from Aurora.
After that collision, the SUV drove into a retention pond to the east.
An Aurora police officer was able to pull a 7-year-old girl (the daughter of the SUV’s driver) from the water. However, the SUV’s driver as well her 9-year-old son remained submerged in the SUV for approximately 30 minutes before they were pulled from the water by the Aurora Fire Department Dive Team.
The girl was taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries, which were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature. The mother and her son were taken to hospitals for treatment of their injuries, which were considered to be life-threatening in nature.
The driver of the sedan that was involved in the initial collision was also taken to a hospital for treatment of his accident injuries.
