Fatal Bicycle Accident Near Hampshire

Fatal Kane County Bicycle Accident

There was a fatal bicycle accident Monday (May 18, 2015) involving a collision between the bicyclist and SUV near Hampshire.

According to the Kane County Sherriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 4:10 p.m. at the intersection of Allen and Walker Roads in unincorporated Hampshire Township.

The initial investigation indicates that a Honda CR-V stopped at a stop sign at the intersection, then collided with the bicycle after the CR-V had progressed into the intersection.

The bicyclist was thrown from the bicycle during the accident, and was declared dead at the accident scene.

The bicyclist was identified as Dennis Jurs, 68, of  Hampshire.

The driver of the CR-V, identified as James Conners, 64, of DeKalb, was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin for treatment of his accident injuries.

At the time of the crash, Jurs was wearing a bicycle helmet.

Two-Car Crash In Batavia, Illinois

There was a two-car accident Saturday afternoon (May 16, 2015) in Batavia.

Emergency responders were alerted at 3:54 p.m.  The crash happened in the 1300 block of South River Street (Illinois Route 25.)

The collision happened between a SUV and a car.

The driver of the SUV, after being extricated from the vehicle, was flown to a hospital.

Two people in the car were taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora for treatment of their accident injuries, which were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

Two Car Crash In St. Charles Township

Two vehicles collided in a “T-bone crash” on Route 25 at Seminary Drive on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at approximately 6:40 a.m., as a Cadillac pulled out of Seminary Drive in front of a Jeep.

An excerpt from the May 13, 2015 Northwest Herald article titled “Drivers injured in 2-car crash in St. Charles Township“:

Police said the Cadillac failed to stop at the stop sign for eastbound traffic on Seminary Drive. Lt. Pat Gengler, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, described it as a busy intersection and said it was a T-bone crash.

The driver of the Cadillac, identified as Mario Castillo, 33 of Bloomingdale, was taken to Delnor Hospital, and was treated for accident injuries that were considered to be potentially “life-threatening” in nature.

The driver of the Jeep, Samuel Ogden, 27, was also taken to Delnor Hospital.  His accident injuries were considered to be “non-life-threatening” in nature.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, neither driver appeared to be wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The accident investigation is ongoing.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash In Kane County

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Saturday (May 9, 2015) in Carpentersville, Illinois.

The accident happened at approximately 10:23 p.m.,  near the Route 25 and Lake Marian Road intersection.  At that time, a collision occurred between a motorcycle and SUV.

The motorcyclist, identified as  Steven J. Moeller, 38, of Lombard, was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin for treatment of his accident injuries.  After being transported, he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Carpentersville Police Department and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.

According to the Carpentersville Police Department, no arrests have been made or citations issued with regard to the accident.
