Two Dead After Elgin Crash

Vehicle Drives Off Road In Elgin

There was a crash early Saturday morning (February 21, 2015) in Elgin which has led to the deaths of two of the vehicle’s occupants, and injured the third occupant.

According to the Elgin Police Department, the crash happened shortly after midnight, when a vehicle drove off the roadway in the 1100 block of Forest Drive and hit a tree.

Two of the three people in the vehicle had to be extricated.  The three vehicle occupants were then taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.  Two of the three were later pronounced dead, and the third person is said to be in serious condition.

Fatal Crash Near Gilberts, Illinois

Fatal “Head-On” Collision In Kane County

There was a fatal “head-on” collision today (February 20, 2015) in unincorporated Kane County near Gilberts.  According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Illinois Route 72 about one-third of a mile east of Big Timber Road.  A five-year-old girl died from accident injuries.

The fatal accident happened as a Mercedes C320 was heading east on Illinois Route 72.  As it came to a curve in the road, for some reason the car drove into the westbound lane and collided “head-on” with a Toyota FJ Cruiser.  The Toyota was then hit from behind by a Chevrolet.

A 5-year-old girl, Gabrielle Horvath, of Hampshire, was in a carseat in the Toyota.  She was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of Toyota, James Horvath, 45 (father of Gabrielle) as well as the driver of the Mercedes, identified only as a 17-year-old boy from Carpentersville, were also taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

The driver of the Chevy, David Doyle, 39, of Byron, was treated at the accident scene.

The 17-year-old boy, who lives in Carpentersville, was cited with driving in the wrong lane, police said. Police were still investigating the accident, and had not determined what caused the crash.

Car And School Bus Collide In Montgomery, Illinois

There was a collision this morning (February 20, 2015) between a school bus and car in Montgomery, Illinois.

According to authorities, the accident happened at approximately 8:15 a.m. at the corner of Mayfield Drive and Orchard Road in Montgomery.  At the time of the crash, the school bus was transporting 31 students to Boulder Hill Elementary School.

10 of the students in the bus were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora for treatment and evaluation, and were released by 11:30 a.m.

The driver of the car was trapped inside her car.  After being extricated, she was taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora for treatment of her accident injuries.

It is currently undisclosed as to what caused this accident.

Car Crashes Into House In Hampshire, Illinois

Kane County Collision Injures Two People

There was a crash Monday (February 10, 2015) that hurt two people in Hampshire, Illinois.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 11:20 a.m., as a Subaru Impreza was going westbound on Higgins Road.  At that time, the car left the road and collided into a house on Woodview Parkway.

There was no reason given as to what caused the car’s driver, Zachary Mikulski, 23, of St. Charles, to lose control of the car.

The Hampshire home was considerably damaged because of the accident.

Zachary Mikulsky and the passenger, Jeffrey Mikulski, 44, of Whitewhiter, Wisconsin, were hurt as a result of the crash and taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin for treatment of accident injuries.
