According to Elgin Police, this collision happened at approximately 7:00 a.m., as a woman in a 2005 Nissan Altima was driving west on Highland Avenue.  At that time, she crossed the center line at Highland Avenue and Lyle Avenue and collided with a 2014 Honda Civic that was traveling eastbound.

The driver of the Nissan Altima, identified as Cynthia Vega, 20, of Elgin, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other car (the Honda Civic) was identified only as a 28-year-old woman.  She was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital with serious injuries.

According to Elgin Police, the motorcyclist, William Maglares, 36, of Elgin, was riding a 2012 Harley Davidson west on Bowes at a high rate of speed, when the motorcycle “rear-ended” the SUV, which was also traveling west.

Maglares was taken for treatment of his injuries to Presence St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the SUV, identified as  a 28-year-old man from Elgin, was not injured in this motorcycle crash.

There was a Kane County collision between a SUV and garbage truck Friday morning (September 12, 2014) near Sugar Grove, Illinois.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, this accident happened at approximately 7:30 a.m. as a woman was driving east on U.S. Route 30 about a mile west of Dugan Road.  At that time, the SUV began drifting into the westbound lanes.  A westbound garbage truck tried to avoid the oncoming vehicle, but the two vehicles collided, and the SUV rolled over.

The 44-year-old woman driving the SUV was extricated from her vehicle and airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, with injuries described as serious.

The driver of the garbage truck, a 59-year-old man, was taken to Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora with minor injuries.

This Kane County traffic collision remains under investigation.

Jacob W. Hastert, 28, was driving a 2005 Yamaha RS motorcycle southbound on Hill at a high rate of speed when he was struck by a northbound 2011 Nissan Sentra that turned left in front of him, police said.

The impact of the crash ejected both Hastert and his 37-year-old female passenger from the motorcycle, police said. Neither were wearing helmets.

Hastert, of Plainfield, suffered various injuries including “massive” head injuries and was taken to an unspecified Aurora hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:58 p.m.

The female motorcycle passenger suffered injuries including back injuries and rib injuries, and was taken to an Aurora hospital.
