There was a fatal “head-on” car collision in Aurora, Illinois on Sunday, August 24, 2014.

According to Aurora Police, the accident happened as a car heading was heading northbound on Route 59 when an SUV traveling southbound tried to turn left in front of the car at the entrance of the Fox Valley Mall.

A passenger in the car, Dorothy J. Lineback, 92, of Naperville, was taken to a hospital and where she died from injuries and was pronounced dead at 4:33 p.m.

The driver of the car was not injured during the accident, nor were the occupants of the SUV.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, this accident happened at approximately 5:15 p.m.  The driver was heading south on Densmore Road, south of Hankes Road, when – for an unknown reason – his pickup truck left the roadway and crashed.  One media source indicates that the pickup truck hit a utility pole.

The driver was identified as Rodger Lambert, 73, of Sugar Grove.  He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

According to Aurora Police, this motorcycle accident happened at approximately 3:50 p.m. on River Road, near Clearwater Drive.

The accident happened as a car and motorcycle were both traveling north.  The motorcycle hit the car from behind, ejecting the motorcyclist, who hit the rear windshield of the car.

The motorcyclist was identified as Jose S. Sanchez, 29, of North Aurora.

Sanchez was taken to a local hospital with injuries considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

Both of the motorcyclists were hospitalized and then airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, with injuries considered to be life-threatening.

The motorcyclists were identified as Benjamin Fletcher, 26, of Elgin, and John Beach, 22, of Hampshire.
