There was a motorcycle accident involving the collision of two motorcycles in Virgil, Illinois yesterday, June 25, 2014.

This motorcycle collision happened on Route 64 at approximately 5:10 p.m., as two motorcyclists were riding just west of Meredith Road.

At some point, one motorcyclist pulled in front of another and was attempting to turn into a business when it was struck by the motorcycle behind.

The two motorcyclists were identified as Steven Wegner, 50, of North Aurora, and Timothy Corbilt, 55, of Elburn.

Corbilt was treated at the accident scene, but Wegner was airlifted to a hospital.

The accident remains under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.

According to reports, Ruben Tello and his daughter were riding near the shoulder of the road near Melrose Avenue and Jackson Street around 3:53 p.m. when they were struck by a vehicle.

According to police reports, the driver of the car “swung wide” while making a turn, and struck the bicyclists.  The driver then fled the scene in his car.

Tello and his daughter were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.

ATV Collides With Motorcycle In Kane County, Illinois

Off-Road Collision In Kane County

There was a Kane County accident today involving an off-road collision between an ATV and motorcycle.  Two 15-year-old boys sustained serious injuries because of the collision, and were airlifted from the scene of the accident.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office the accident happened at approximately 2:25 p.m., near Lily Lake.

According to preliminary information, the three boys were riding off-road vehicles in the area of 45W740 Read Road when one of the boys, riding a motorcycle, apparently stopped for an unknown reason.  A collision ensued as the boy was struck from behind by another boy who was riding an ATV.

Both of these boys sustained head injuries and were flown to hospitals.

Hit & Run Motorcycle Accident In Kane County, Illinois

There was a Kane County collision involving a car that hit a motorcycle on Thursday night (June 12, 2014) in Pingree Grove, Illinois.

This collision was a hit & run accident in which the driver of the car that hit the motorcyclist was charged with aggravated DUI.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the motorcycle collision happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. when the female motorist was driving on Route 20, east of Route 47 and she struck the motorcyclist.

The driver was identified as Caitlin M. Hill, 18, of Bartlett.  Following the collision, she drove from the accident scene, crashed her car into a ditch, and then started running on foot.  Police apprehended her at 7:51 p.m.

An excerpt from the June 13, 2014 Elgin Courier-News article titled “Police:  Drunk driver fled after vehicle struck motorcyclist” :

Hill, of the 1500 block of Derby Lane in Bartlett, is charged with one felony count each of aggravated DUI and aggravated battery to a police officer, according to police. No information was released about the latter charge or if an officer was injured.

The motorcyclist was hospitalized, but no other information is immediately available concerning the motorcyclist’s condition.

Fatal Car Collision In Sugar Grove, Illinois

Fatal Car Accident In Kane County, Illinois

There was a fatal Kane County car accident Thursday night (June 12, 2014) that happened on Route 47 near the Interstate 88 exit ramp, in Sugar Grove, Illinois.

According to Sugar Grove Police, this fatal car accident happened at approximately 9:00 p.m., when a car was exiting Interstate 88 and collided with a SUV that was traveling southbound on Route 47.

Police say the car appears to have failed to stop at a stop sign at the end of the exit ramp.

The driver of the car was identified as Mike Buffington, 60, who served as the City of Geneva’s electric superintendent.  He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The SUV had three occupants, including a 46-year-old female driver and her two sons, ages 12 and 14.  They were taken to a hospital in Geneva with minor injuries.

This fatal car collision remains under investigation by the Sugar Grove Police Department and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.

There was a fatal train accident Saturday night (May 31, 2014) in Maple Park, Illinois.

This accident happened at approximately 9:30 p.m., and involved a 14-year-old boy getting fatally struck by a freight train.  This fatal train accident happened near the Liberty Street railroad crossing to the north of Main Street.  The train was a Union Pacific freight train.

The teenager was identified as Parker Wolfsmith, of Maple Park.

Police have ruled out foul play and suicide as a cause of Parker’s death.

This fatal train accident remains under investigation by the Maple Park Police Department.
